Silk is a natural protein fibre obtained from the cocoons of silkworms. Known for its natural lustre, smooth texture and elegant drape, it combines exceptional strength with a lightweight feel and has long been associated with luxury textiles and craftsmanship.

Muslin is a lightweight, loosely woven fabric with an open, airy structure and a soft, often slightly irregular appearance. Depending on its construction, it can range from relatively opaque to highly transparent. The name is traditionally associated with Mosul, the historic city in present-day Iraq, which was an important centre of textile production and trade. Muslin became known in Europe through international trade and was widely used for lightweight clothing, particularly from the eighteenth century onwards.
